A Letter from the President

Welcome to the home of the Tau Chapter of Sigma Delta Tau at the University of Texas at Austin!

As I sit down to write this, it’s incredibly hard to put into words just how special this journey has been! Being part of the founding class of our SDT chapter is something that has changed my life — not just for what we’ve accomplished, but for the incredible people I’ve grown alongside.

Starting something from the ground up is no small task. When I think back to the day I was approached with the idea of re-establishing Sigma Delta Tau, I get a bit emotional over how far we’ve come. I remember sitting in Hillel talking about Greek Life; little did I know, esteemed Tau alumna Helaine Golman Wolf mentioned that SDT had a presence on campus in the past. I somewhat jokingly said, “I’ll bring it back!” thinking it was just a passing conversation, when really I had planted a seed that would soon bloom into the beautiful chapter we are today!

When we first came together, we were a group of women from different walks of life, with different stories and dreams. But we had one thing in common: we shared a desire for something more, a community where we could feel truly seen, supported, and inspired. Sigma Delta Tau became that space for us.

Together, we’ve built this chapter with late-night planning sessions, long conversations about our values, a lot of laughter, and yes, a few tears. We’re creating traditions that will live on, sharing moments that have bonded us forever, and laying the foundation for a sisterhood that will grow for our daughters, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters!

Every step of this journey has been deeply personal. It has been about friendship, courage, and believing in the power of women coming together to build something meaningful! Watching this chapter come to life, watching strangers become my sisters, has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my college years.

To anyone reading this who is curious about Sigma Delta Tau, I hope you know there is space for you here! This is a place where your dreams are encouraged, your personal and academic growth are celebrated, and your heart will be held with care.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our chapter’s page. Whether you're a potential new member, the parent of a sister, or an alumnae, know that YOU are a part of this story too, because through our sisterhood, the world shines brighter!

With all my heart & Hook ‘em,
Paisley Porter
